Open Flower is an art project led by Nick Desnoyer that aims to promote education
and open science in biology through the genetic design of flowers.
The Open Flower mission is to create genetically designable flowers for making:
(1) Artwork with social impact
(2) Scientific tools for teaching
The signature flowers are micro-roses, tiny flowers built on the model plant, Arabidopsis thaliana. Click below to learn more!
A core focus of Open Flower is to fuse art and science using flowers as a canvas to inspire and educate others about the potential of biotechnology.
All profits from artworks and merchandise go back into Open Flower to advance flower genetic design.
Another focus of Open Flower is to promote education and open science in biology through an open-access kit that is under development.
